A cinematic alt-rock odyssey about love, loss, identity and the fragile ties that bind us.
After a string of bold singles that further established them as one of South Wales’ most exciting new acts, Cardiff’s Small Miracles release their long-awaited debut album A Human Connection - an emotionally charged, genre-blurring record that finds hope in vulnerability and beauty in chaos.
Blending shimmering dream-pop textures, grunge-inflected guitars and glam-rock flair, the album explores what it means to reach for closeness in an isolating age. Across ten tracks, the five-piece navigate identity, intimacy and survival with fearless honesty and cinematic scope.
Cardiff-based Small Miracles formed in 2021 and quickly established themselves as a powerful queer art-rock force. Their sound - melding punk, glam, disco, new wave and grunge - is eclectic yet focused, balancing theatrical drama with emotional nuance. Influenced by Blondie, Talking Heads, Pixies, IDLES and The Psychedelic Furs, their songs flow from angular riffs to danceable rhythms, with poignant lyricism at the core.
Their 2025 run of singles began with the fiery punk charge of Bisexual Panic, followed by the cinematic and reflective You Know. In August, the dream-grunge anthem Cherry Pill revealed a tender, nostalgic side of the band, before Shadow Eyes landed on 26th September - a brooding, expansive track that hints at the emotional gravity of their debut album.
A Human Connection, due 7th November 2025, explores themes of belonging, memory, transformation and resistance, delivered with theatrical flair, emotional resonance and infectious hooks.
Whether on stage or in their recordings, Small Miracles offer unapologetic vulnerability, cathartic energy and anthems that challenge norms while feeling deeply personal.

About The Album
Recorded at Giant Wafer Studios in March 2024 and Kings Road Studio over spring and summer 2024, the album grew from a series of spontaneous writing sessions - moments where voice notes became seeds for fully formed songs. These ideas were refined through a truly collaborative process, with the band developing demos collectively and inviting in trusted collaborators to help shape its sonic world.
Much of the record was built on live takes, capturing the band’s chemistry and immediacy. This approach emphasises what makes Small Miracles special: five musicians writing together as a single unit, then layering subtle overdubs and guest features to expand the emotional scope.
“The album explores human connection from the personal to the societal,” explains guitarist S. Kenward. “From the intimate, internal battles we have with ourselves, our bodies and our identity to the conflicts and atrocities that connect us in shared grief, anger and exasperation. It explores the moments of joyful connection that help us continue, as well as the defiance we need to persist.”
“This record meets my idea of the purest sense of what a band making music is,” adds Kenward. “Unity and tension as five unique people work to create a truly collaborative piece of art. We all welcomed additional artists for the moments we needed something extra - a voice, an experience, a perspective, a musical skill. That willingness to abandon ego created some of the most striking moments on the record.”
This collage-like approach mirrors the single artworks, created by drummer Lucas Eldridge using layered and reassembled textures, revealing new truths through their reconnection. At its core lies melody: carrying the emotional weight of the lyrics and reinforcing the stories at the heart of each song.
